Godly Passion
Minister Joaquin
1 Peter 2:11-12
11 Beloved, I urge you as sojourners and exiles to abstain from the passions of the flesh, which wage war against your soul. 12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.
Christians should live exceptional lives in the midst of suffering because such behavior brings glory to God Suffer under Government 2:13-17, Masters 2:28-25, Wives 3:7 Family 3:8-12, Family of God 3:13-4:6
Prohibition of behaviors mirrors Paul’s themes of the war between the flesh and the spirit (Rom 8:1-14; Gal 5:16-25).
Peter urges his readers to deny themselves temporary pleasures of indulging in physical, sinful passions that prevent them from living a spiritual life.

Galatians 5:16-25
16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, 20 idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, 21 envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. 24 And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
If someone loved something there would be signs (always talking about their spouse, parents talking about their kids, high number of days at gym) pattern of longing, thinking about, studying new methods, and making plans to do things together.
Keep your conduct honorable
What is your reputation?
What are you known for?
What can people count on you for?
Are you that different from non-believers?
Would you be missed if you are gone?
Holiness is a thirst, a drive to know God in his fullness and an unashamed commitment to obey God whatever it costs and wherever we are. It begins in the morning, directs our path during the day, and leads us to confession and praise in the evening.
Psalm 42:1-2
1 As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.
2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?
